Hello Everyone,

My name is Sebastian, and I’m from the States. I currently work as a corporate accountant and have been in the accounting field for four years. I started my career as an auditor at a public accounting firm before transitioning into my current role. I’ve had a passion for technology since I was a kid. It started with building simple Arduino projects, like creating a fan, and eventually led to building my own computers. I’ve always been drawn to having the latest tech—whether it’s drones, the newest smartphones, or exploring virtual reality. If it’s tech-related, I’m all in. Due to this passion, I'm currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Software Technology at UAGC with the goal of deepening my knowledge of computer science and applying it within my field. I'm particularly interested in scripting, software development, and process automation as tools to enhance efficiency in accounting.

My passion for technology and innovation has inspired me to explore how advancements in computer science are transforming the accounting profession. Through this course, I hope to gain a stronger understanding of system design and database management. In my current role, I often collaborate with IT to bridge the gap between technology and accounting. However, I sometimes struggle with technical terminology and concepts, which can lead to communication challenges, especially around system capabilities/limitations and database management practices.

I’m also looking to expand my coding skills specially python and SQL. I’ve worked with VBA scripts in the past to automate journal entries and perform basic data transformations in excel, but my experience is mostly limited to simple tasks. I’m excited to build on that foundation through this class and grow my technical skill set.

First Scratch Experience

  First Scratch Experience      In the first week of TEC101 at UAGC, we were tasked with creating a small game using Scratch. I believe starting with a simple game and decided to feature my favorite videogame character, Mario from Super Mario Bros. Given that I am fairly new to Scratch and programming in general, I opted to design a simple game similar to the popular Flappy Bird – style genre that were widely played on mobile phones in the 2010s. The objective of the game like Flappy bird is to avoid the obstacle to achieve the highest score.          Initially, my experience with creating this program involved familiarizing myself with the different categories and commands available in Scratch. Fundamental Concepts of Operating Systems

Section 1 This particular week I learned about the major functions of an operating system which can be broken down into several core areas that work together to manage system resources and support program execution:  Memory Management – This function determines how much memory to allocate to each process and keeps track of which parts of primary memory are currently in use. It assigns memory when a program requests it and releases it once the process has completed. Throughout the course, I’ve also learned how closely memory management is tied to the storage subsystem. For example, virtual memory often relies on secondary storage as a backing store, and many systems allow files to be mapped directly into a process’s virtual address space.
